Every Wish & Every Tear is available both illustrated (second edition) and unillustrated (first edition).
This collection features my best poems, carefully chosen from over 1,000 pieces written across a 3-year period. Written through the frame of love from 2016-2019, these pieces depict the highs & lows of erratic, unstable relationships with men & women, the highs of sexual desire, the longing for romantic connection, & the severe grief that comes from loss & rejection. In these pages you’ll find images of the ecstasy of new love—& the agony of mourning its loss. These are envisioned through the lens of my experiences as a bisexual woman living alone in the city, coping with borderline personality disorder. This collection explores themes surrounding: LGBT identity, depression, anxiety, love (including unrequited & love for self), & a spectrum of emotions from joy & ecstasy to fear, loss, & heartache. I drew from imagery rooted in nature: animals, the ocean, the sky, the rainbow, the weather; & from the ideas behind mythical creatures like mermaids. I hope that you find comfort in reading these poems. Each work collected here is dedicated to validating anyone experiencing the breadth & magnitude of the range of emotions romance can inspire in us. If nothing else, I hope in reading this you realize that you are not alone—that you feel a sense of connection.
